The managing director of the Cluster of Energy in the Region of Valencia, Enrique Bayonne, participated in the past, may 14, in Valencia, in the day \”on The map of the financing of the R+D+i\”, a meeting focused on analyzing the different tools available to promote projects of research, development and innovation in business.
The day, organised by APD, brought together representatives from companies, financial institutions, agents of the ecosystem of entrepreneurship, technology centres and clusters business. Throughout the various sessions addressed the public aid available in the areas of regional, national and european, tax incentives, formulas financing alternatives and the role of private investment in the growth of innovative companies.
The participation of Enrique Bayonne took place at the round table \”The vision of the clusters: innovation, needs, and challenges\”, moderated by Sara Tables responsible Innovation of the EGM Parc Tecnològic Paternal. The session was also attended by representatives of REDIT, SENTIATECH, ITI and the Cluster Digital de la Comunitat Valenciana.
During the panel discussed the role of clusters as agents of connection between companies, technology centres, governments, and funders. In this sense, Enrique Bayonne stressed the importance of identifying the real needs of companies and transform them into collaborative projects with the ability to access funding programs and generate concrete results.

In the field of energy, innovation often requires large investments, periods of development time and the coordinated participation of different actors. Therefore, the clusters are especially relevant to facilitate the creation of consortia, to promote cooperation between companies and institutions in technological and increase the size and strength of the projects.
The table also allowed to reflect on some of the main barriers encountered by companies, especially smes, to develop initiatives of I+D+i. Among them are the administrative complexity, fragmentation of aid programs, the difficulty to anticipate the calls and the need to dispose of their own resources to implement projects.
One of the main conclusions of the meeting was that the innovation financing should not be addressed solely through grants. Companies need to define a strategy that combined, according to the characteristics and the degree of maturity of each project, public aid, bank financing, private investment, fiscal incentives and other complementary mechanisms.
From the Cluster of Energy of the Comunitat Valenciana we will continue to work to bring these opportunities to the business, identify common challenges and promote collaborative projects that contribute to improving the competitiveness, innovative capacity and the energy transition of the enterprises of the Comunitat Valenciana.
